Tigerace—the card game
A fun game of strategy for all ages that you can use to teach points about conservation
Tigerace 1.0 (Beta)
A Free Card Game using a standard deck
Brought to you by Tigerace.com—Wild Cats on the World Wide Web
About the game: Played with a standard deck of cards, Tigerace is a game that emphasises the strategy of give and take. You have to first give up your Aces in order to get them back and win the game. This reminds us that sometimes, an effective conservation strategy involves a bit of give and take. By helping the human population meet their own needs, for example, some programs are better able to ensure the survival of endangered wild life.
Aim of the game: Declare yourself “Tigerace”, king of the jungle!
Conditions of winning: Possess only three Aces in your hand.
How to start the game: Remove the jokers and make sure you haved one pack for every two players. Deal ten cards to each player. Players need to reveal the Aces that are in their hand by placing them down in front of them.
The shared table space in front of the players is known as the “jungle”. Place the remaining cards to the side of the jungle. This pile of cards is known as the deck. Non-Ace card types are known as species.
How to play: On each turn, players must place species into the jungle, face-up, along with an Ace. You may put down one or more of a matching species (eg. Kings) along with an Ace.
If you do not have an Ace, you cannot put species into the jungle unless that species already exists. Instead, you may pick up from the deck. Once the deck is exhausted, you may pick up from the jungle. If a player has an Ace along with at least one other card (excluding another Ace), they may not pick up.
You are only allowed to take from the jungle if you have no other options (eg. an ace and another card, a species you can add to a pile in the jungle or the deck available).
This game is in beta and is still in testing. If you have comments about it, please share them with Amanda Greenslade.
